Boston’s Grant Williams fined for spiking ball into stands during loss to Golden State

Boston Celtics reserve forward Grant Williams has been fined $20,000 by the league for spiking the game ball into the stands in the final moments of Saturday’s 2022 NBA Finals rematch against the Golden State Warriors. The Charlotte native was hit with a technical foul and ejection for his actions for which he initially appeared confused.

The incident in question occurred with just a few minutes remaining in a loss for the Celtics this past Saturday evening. After the game, Williams was asked about the moment that got him unceremoniously tossed from the tilt for his egregious show of emotion.

“I have to be better in a sense of being more mature and understanding that your emotion is as good as what you base yourself growing as a player.” Williams said of the incident.

You can see the action that got the former Tennessee player sent packing unfold in the video embedded above.
