When the Boston Celtics signed guard Josh Richardson this past offseason, they knew they were getting a veteran presence to add to a largely young roster. They were getting a player who has experience and could help guide those younger players, especially through a time like this a few weeks out from the trade deadline. This is something Richardson has some familiarity with, too.
“I’ve been traded a few times. So you just kind of learned to live with it at that point,” Richardson told reporters Wednesday. “I know it might be scary for some guys who have never been through it. But for us veterans who have been moved, we know it’s a business. And just trying to keep the other guys engaged on what’s important, and that’s winning games.”
Richardson himself has been named in some trade rumors, as The Athletic’s Jared Weiss suggested.
The 6-foot-5 wing has posted his best shooting numbers since his rookie season, finishing at 45% from the floor and 41.1% from three. That type of efficiency should be quite attractive for a contending team to add to their rotation, whether off the bench or in a starting role.
