Bosses hire private detectives to spy on depressed dad on sick leave

A seriously depressed dad was spied on while on sick leave by private detectives paid for the glass manufacturing business where he worked for 36-years as a loyal employee.

Alan Jones was secretly observed by surveillance firm Mike India 5 Agents, with investigators taking videos of of the dad-of-three and looking through his financial records after being enlisted by his bosses at St Helens firm Pilkington Glass.

The 55-year-old team leader spent a substantial time off work after suffering from radiation induced neurpaothy, a painful and incurable muscle wasting condition that developed as side-effect of radiotherapy treatment he underwent for cancer a few years ago.
