Following their victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinals, Borussia Dortmund continued their winning streak by outshining the French club on social media as well. Dortmund took to social networks to playfully taunt PSG with a clever post the day after their triumph.
The post featured an image of a hot air balloon adorned in Dortmund's signature yellow-and-black colors soaring above a beach where a PSG towel lay spread out on the sand. Emblazoned across the image was the French phrase translating to 'Enjoy your vacation.'
This social media banter was in response to a tweet by PSG following their quarterfinal victory over Barcelona. PSG had posted an image of a hot air balloon in Barcelona's colors sinking in the Seine river with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.
In the second leg of the semifinals, Dortmund secured a 1-0 win over PSG, resulting in a 2-0 aggregate victory. The lone goal of the match was scored by Mats Hummels at the Parc des Princes, propelling Dortmund closer to potentially clinching their second Champions League title, having previously won in 1997. Dortmund had also made it to the Champions League final in 2013, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
PSG, known for their significant investments in top-tier talent, are still in pursuit of their maiden Champions League triumph despite their continued efforts in the competition.
