Borussia Dortmund 'hold advantage' in pursuit of Everton target Mohammed Kudus

Everton could face competition for target Mohammed Kudus if he's still on their radar next summer, according to reports.

The Blues were heavily linked with a move for the Ajax star in the summer, but a deal never materialised as he remained with the Dutch club. Despite reports he 'missed training' in order to force through a move, the Ghana international has had a flying start to the 2022/23 campaign.

So far this term, Kudus has scored eight goals for Ajax in all competitions and he's found the back of the net in all three of their Champions League group stage matches so far.

Now, according to German outlet BILD, Borussia Dortmund have Kudus in their sights and could present fierce competition for the player should Everton retain any interest. The article claims the Bundesliga giants are targeting the Ajax star, having already signed Sebastien Haller from the Eredivisie champions in the summer.

Kudus is under contract at Ajax until 2025 and has a reported market value of just €10m - although that could rise as a result of his form this season. The article goes on to say Dortmund could hold an advantage if they're to pursue the 22-year-old as their talent coach Otto Addo is also the current manager of the Ghana national team.

The player has previously opened up on the interest from Everton over the summer, as he told Dutch outlet NOS : "Everton offered me a great opportunity and I wanted to try it. No footballer wants to sit on the bench and neither do I.

"Although I understood that not everyone can play all the time, Everton seemed like a good option at the time. It wasn't that I didn't want to train, but I'm human and had a lot to deal with in a very short time. The chapter is now over and I'm still here."
