Borna Barisic slammed by Rangers legend for kicking the ball at baying Hearts supporters

Borna Barisic drew criticism from Hearts fans and former players in Rangers' 3-0 win over the Jambos on Wednesday evening – by kicking the ball at a section of the Tynecastle support after they heckled him throughout the match.

Rangers took the share of the spoils in the capital city with a brace from Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos coming either side of a Malik Tillman strike just before half time, and it could have been a cricket score had VAR not regularly intervened and another host of spurned chances on top of that.

The travelling support were in party mode as they cruised to victory against Robbie Neilson's men, though a couple of incidents involving Morelos and Barisic caught the eye. The striker was bizarrely criticised by Neil McCann for celebrating in front of the Jambos faithful, and it quickly came to light thereafter that Barisic had kicked the ball into a section of the Tynecastle crowd that had goaded him a couple of times earlier in the evening whilst taking corners in the first half.

After the interval, the left-back could be seen walking the ball in from the corner of the pitch to pass back to goalkeeper Allan McGregor for a quick restart, before turning and dinking the ball towards the small section of supporters that had clearly been down his throat from the get go. Former Rangers and Hearts star McCann shared his thoughts on the incident, claiming the Croat didn't need to rise to their challenge with the Light Blues doing their talking on the pitch.

He told BBC Sportsound: "Then Barisic kicks the ball into the fans. I don't know what was going on tonight. There was a little bit of an atmosphere between the fans and the Rangers players and they didn't need to do that because they were streets ahead on the pitch."
