Borna Barisic issues Rangers injury update as defender set for Celtic Scottish Cup semi-final

Borna Barisic has allayed Rangers fan worries that he may have suffered an injury against Braga.

The G ers star hobbled off on the 90th minute last night as he clutched his hamstring and groin area.

That sparked concerns that the Croat would join Filip Helander, Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi on the Ibrox club's growing injury list.

But t he Croatian claimed he was simply suffering from severe cramp and was unable to continue.

He said: "It's not an injury, it's just cramp.

"I felt it 20 or 15 minutes before the 90 but I tried to play until the end.

"Then I couldn't any more, probably because I didn't play for a long time."

Rangers were forced to play 120 minutes of football last night but did eventually reach the Europa League semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

However, the extra-time won't do Gio van Bronckhorst's side any favours ahead of Sunday's Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final.

Barisic, though insists Rangers won't use that as an excuse as he added: "Of course, it would have been much better had we played 90 minutes, but it is what it is.

"The most important thing is that we won this game.

"Tomorrow, we'll start to think about Sunday.

"We are professionals. We are ready for the game on Sunday."
