KOLKATA: It was not a homecoming East Bengal fans were awaiting. After suffering two away defeats, the red-and-gold brigade completed a hat-trick of defeats in this ISL as they went down 2-3 to FC Goa in their first home match at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Friday. This time it was Borja Herrera who returned to haunt his former club, netting a hat-trick to give his side their first win of this ISL season while Carles Cuadrat's disorganised unit was left looking for their first point in this edition.
FC Goa dominated proceedings right from the word go as East Bengal were down by two goals within the first 20 minutes of play. Cuadrat brought in Debjit Majumder in place of out-of-form Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, but Ghosh had little chance to keep Borja at bay as poor defending saw the Spanish midfielder scoring from inside the box twice.
