Boris Johnson's ex anti-corruption tsar has warned the Prime Minister that refusing to appoint a new ethics adviser would be a "big mistake".
Tory ex-minister John Penrose has said that if the beleaguered PM refused to replace Lord’s Geidt - who dramatically quit yesterday - it would leave “really quite damaging questions dangling”.
Lord Geidt said he had been narrowly clinging on as ministerial interests adviser over Partygate but ultimately quit after being forced into an “impossible and odious” position by the Prime Minister.
