Regular live televised briefings from the Downing Street press room last seen at the height of the Covid pandemic are to be brought back, according to reports. Boris Johnson and senior Government ministers will stand alongside key experts and explain what is being done to tackle the cost of living crisis, reports the Times.
A source told the Times: "He wants to show people he's on their side. He also wants to show them what we're already doing in a bid to build confidence. He has the platform and he wants to use it."
It comes as inflation soars towards 10% and the price of some basic foods on superm,market shelves has gone up by 50p. Energy prices will be around £3,000 a year on average by the end of the year and petrol now costs more than £1.70p a litre with diesel over £2 a litre.
