Boris Johnson could have faced a 90-day suspension from Parliament for repeatedly misleading MPs over what he knew about Partygate bashes in Downing Street.
A damning report by the Commons Privileges Committee recommended Mr Johnson should be have been kicked out of the Commons for three months - which would have paved the way for a by-election.
After a probe of more than a year, the Committee said Mr Johnson had misled Parliament on multiple occasions and committed "repeated contempts" of Parliament.
