Boris Johnson has been paid nearly £2.5million in advanced fees for speaking events. The figure was revealed in the MPs' register of financial interests.
The register showed that the former prime minister was paid £2,488,387.53 as an advance for speaking engagements arranged by the Harry Walker Agency. The agency is based in New York.
Mr Johnson again declared “concessionary use of accommodation for me and my family in January”, which was valued at £10,000. He declared the use of accommodation from January to February, provided by Lord Anthony and Lady Bamford, at a value of £3,500.
Since leaving office last year Mr Johnson has received millions of pounds in fees. They are largely for public speaking events as well as his forthcoming memoirs.
He continues to earn £84,000 a year from his salary as an MP. The sums make him among the highest-earning MPs at Westminster.
