Donald Trump has claimed the Prime Minister forced him to cancel an interview with Piers Morgan shortly before the last General Election.

During an interview with Piers Morgan on Monday, the former US president suggested Boris Johnson had asked him not to appear on Good Morning Britain in December 2019.

Mr Morgan said the pair had been due to meet “just before the pandemic” in London.

But the interview was cancelled at the last minute when the Prime Minister intervened.

Mr Trump said "it's true” and added that at the time he was a guest of Mr Johnson and did what he was asked.

He added that he “did not know” why the PM had not wanted him to be interviewed.

Mr Morgan suggested it was because they might “create something that would cost him the election”, which was just a few days after the planned interview.

During the first part of the interview on TalkTV's "Piers Morgan Uncensored", Mr Trump said he "liked" the British Prime Minister.

However he added that he believed Mr Johnson was “getting a little bit liberal" and a "little bit green".
