Borderlands 4 isn't quite a live service game, but its endgame does heavily revolve around a weekly schedule. This weekly update rotates endgame content, shifts the location of Maurice's Black Market vending machine, and is often when Gearbox reveals and releases key patch notes.
With this in mind, the weekly update is an important date to keep track of, whether you're just entering the endgame or perfecting your builds with a shopping list of gear. Below, I'll go over what's available this week and any major changes so you don't miss out.
Borderlands 4 weekly update
Each week in Borderlands 4, the Big Encore boss, Wildcard Mission, and Black Market vending machine activities change. Since these are endgame activities, you'll have to have completed the campaign before you can access them. These changes go live at the weekly reset time, which is every Thursday at 9 am Pacific.
Here's what's active this week from May 21 to May 28:
- Big Encore boss: Vile Ted & The Experiments, found in the Terminus District of Dominion. They have the chance of dropping the Seventh Sense legendary pistol, and Goalkeeper legendary assault rifle.
- Wildcard Mission: Dark Subject with the Leaking, Strong, and Vampiric modifiers, and a guaranteed drop of the legendary Lead Balloon shotgun, a Torgue brand weapon.
- Maurice's Black Market vending machine : Inside the Checkpoint Vermillion POI in the Cuspid Climb area inside the southern part of the Terminus Range region. Fast travel to the Grey Havenage safehouse nearby, head south to Checkpoint Vermillion, enter through the big main entrance, then take the first left and work your way up and around (to the left) inside this room.
The Lead Balloon shotgun has the Lightweight special effect, meaning projectiles float upward and spawn child projectiles when they explode. That's a lot of bang for your buck(shot)!
Latest Borderlands 4 patch notes
There are no patch notes this week in Borderlands 4 (May 21 - May 28) as the team prepares for a major update next week. Here's what Gearbox said you can expect from that 1.7 update:
- "We'll be adding Raid Boss 2: Subjugator and Thol the Invincible, as well as a Shared Character Progression toggle"
Last week's Borderlands 4 patch notes
Although it wasn't a major one, we still got some helpful changes and fixes to some problematic gear last week. Here are the full Borderlands 4 patch notes for the week of May 14 - May 21:
