Premier Mark McGowan is set to cop a week in hotel quarantine to avoid perceptions he will personally benefit from the timing of Western Australia's border reopening.
The state reported a daily record high of 257 new local infections on Saturday, a day after Mr McGowan announced borders would reopen on March 3, allowing quarantine-free travel.
Five new travel-related cases were also reported, taking WA's number of active infections to 877. No cases are in hospital.
