Fox cameras captured a video of approximately 100 migrants being taken into custody near an exclusive neighborhood with high-end homes, where the area butts up against the Rio Grande River. This has become yet another hotspot for illegal crossings. Democratic Congressman Don Davis of North Carolina recently visited Eagle Pass to witness the crisis firsthand. Confronted with the enormous volume of resources that the community is committing to managing the situation, Congressman Davis emphasized the urgency of addressing this unsustainable ongoing crisis.
President Biden has requested $14 billion for additional border funding in a supplemental spending agreement currently being discussed between lawmakers in the White House. The border patrol in El Paso apprehended a man from El Salvador who had been convicted of murder, as well as another man convicted in a 2015 homicide in Colombia. Since October, ten migrants with murder or homicide convictions have been discovered in the country.
