Shoppers suffering from ‘bumpy chicken skin’ - or as one put it ‘British winter lizard skin’ - have been heaping praise on a £10 cream that gets rid of dry, rough skin, leaving it feeling ‘smooth for the first time in forever’.
With summer is fast approaching, the race is on to get skin smooth and glowing, and beauty buffs say the AMELIORATE Transforming Body Lotion does what it says on the label, and transforms skin in as little as ‘four days’.
The product - usually £22.55 - has been slashed to just £10 as part of Boots weekly £10 Tuesday deals, saving £12.55 on the RRP.

The lotion is aimed at people who suffer from dry and rough skin and ingrown hairs, as well as a common skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris, often nicknamed ‘chicken skin’. It’s caused by a protein called keratin plugging the hair follicles, causing white or reddish bumps on the skin.
On the Boots website, shoppers have given the AMELIORATE Transforming Body Lotion 72 five star ratings, compared to only three one star reviews.
One said: “I have suffered from ‘chicken skin’ on my arms for as long as I can remember, I knew there wasn’t a cure so just lived with it but my doctor recommended this cream and I’ve been using it for four days now and it has already started to clear up on my arms, baring in mind it was all over the top on my arm, not just the back & it has worked wonders!!”
Another added: “I suffer from "chicken skin" arms, Keratosis pilaris, and this is the one and only product I have used that helps. My arms feel smooth for the first time in forever! Worth every penny.”
A third added: “I can't praise Ameliorate enough for its astonishing ability to transform British winter lizard skin into supple, smooth loveliness...break out the dresses girls!”
The lotion resurfaces the uppermost layers of your skin using optimum levels of Lactic Acid, a naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acid (also known as an AHA), which encourages the skin's natural exfoliation process, gently removing surface dead skin and debris whilst also stimulating the renewal of healthy skin cells.
As such, it helps remove dead skin cells, unblock hair follicles, resurface rough and bumpy skin texture while hydrating, softening and smoothing the skin.
While some shoppers saw results in a matter of days, the brand recommends applying the lotion twice a day for four weeks, then once a day thereafter to maintain your skin.
It’s said to be suitable for all skin types, and can be used on adults and children over three years. It can even be used on the face, however, some of the more negative reviews say shoppers weren’t so keen on the smell, but others were happy to put up with it for the results it provided.
The reduced price for the AMELIORATE Transforming Body Lotion is part of the high street retailer’s weekly £10 Tuesday deal, which sees products from brands such as Huda Beauty, No7, St. Moriz, Oral-B, Olay and Yankee Candle reduced for a 24-hour period, which means it will go back up to full price tomorrow.
It means it’s currently cheaper than the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream with Salicylic Acid, which is £15, or £12 with an Advantage Card, which also targets dry, bumpy skin.
However, according to Money Saving Expert sponsored price comparison site, Trolley, it’s also reduced on Amazon for £10 - which could be a deal that lasts longer than the Boots flash sale.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to commit to a 200ml bottle, LookFantastic are also stocking 100ml of the cream for just £6, instead of £15, making it perfect for trialling to see if it works for you.
