Boots, Amazon and John Lewis: when 'Boxing Day' sales are likely to actually start

The final quarter of the year is a high sales season for retailers, with huge discounts offered after Christmas on and around Boxing Day.

High street shops are often extremely busy on December 26, with some people queuing from early in the morning in a bid to get the best bargains. Other shoppers opt to buy online from the comfort of their own homes.

Either way, there'll be lots of people keen to get their hands on some discounted goods, clothes and more.

And while they're called the Boxing Day sales, some brands choose to begin theirs before or after the day itself. Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert has compiled a handy sale predictor, based on when items were discounted in previous years. Here are the estimated dates for Boots, easyJet, Matalan, Next and more:

Boots

In previous years Boots has started its sale, offering up to 50% off, on December 23 or December 24.

easyJet

MSE predicts easyJet will offer 25% off a staggering 800,000 seats, lasting until January 11. For the last three years, the sale has begun on December 23.

John Lewis

John Lewis sales have begun on December 24 for the past four years. MSE expected savings of up to 50%

Matalan

Since 2018, the Matalan Christmas sale has started on Christmas Eve. Shoppers who wait until the New Year could see up to 70% off, according to MSE.

Next

One of the most popular sales, Next usually begins slashing prices on December 24. Shoppers can expect "at least" 50% off, with the sale likely to last for a couple of weeks.

Amazon

Amazon shoppers are likely to be able to save up to 50%, with its Boxing Day sales taking place from December 26 in previous years.

ASOS

MSE predicts ASOS shoppers can save as much as 70% in its sale, which has begun on December 28 and December 30 over the last four years.

H&M

Experts reckon H&M will slash prices by up to 60%, but the date for this one is a little trickier to guess. In previous years the sale has started on December 28, December 31, and January 3.

Ryanair

MSE predicts Ryanair will sell 500,000 seats from as little as £9,99 over a few days. Previous years have seen the sale launched on December 30 or December 31, though there was no sale in 2020.
