Parent’s across Ireland are in for two expected changes in the upcoming Budget, which is due to be announced on September 27.
Many parents and guardians have been voicing their worry over recent months when it came to the back-to-school costs - with some even saying they struggled to afford their grocery shops after buying school books and uniforms.
With concern growing about the price of many aspects of life in this country, the latest hints around the budget suggest that parents will benefit widely from pay boosts.

Parents are likely to see their childcare costs reduced by around €200 per month in 2023 and by a further €200 per month the following year.
This comes after an agreement was reached among the Government ahead of final budget plans.
As well as this, those in receipt of the child benefit payment are also expected to receive a double payment in the coming months.
Should this go ahead, parents would be in line for a €280 once-off payment if they have one child, or €560 if they have two.
It is also understood that this would be paid out to eligible families ahead of the Christmas season.
In order to qualify for the child benefit payment, you must be living in Ireland, and your child must be under 16.
You can get child benefits for a child aged 16 or 17, if they are in full-time education, have full-time training, or have a disability and cannot support themselves.
You should apply for child benefits within 12 months of:
- The birth of your baby or
- The month the child became a member of your family or
- The month your family came to live in Ireland or
- The date you started working in Ireland if your children are living in another EU country
