The best Ohio prospect in the 2024 class is staying home.
Aaron Scott Jr, out of Springfield, Ohio, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Sunday, spurning Michigan and Oregon along the way. At 6-foot, and 170-pounds, Scott is ranked as the No. 5 cornerback and 52nd overall recruit in the 2024 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
It’s a huge win on the recruiting trail for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. Despite some Crystal Balls showing him as an Ohio State lean, it was a real battle with Michigan — and even Oregon — right in the thick of it. All indications point to it being a razor-thin OSU win.
Scott makes the 19th verbal commitment for the 2024 class and will no doubt bolster the Buckeyes’ standing as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country according to almost every recruiting service out there.
More than that though, Ohio State has to start stacking defensive backs to get the defensive backfield back among the elite it has been throughout history. Adding Scott to a class that also has 4-star prospects Bryce West, Garrett Stover, and Miles Lockhart already in the fold, goes a long way toward that.

There are still plenty of opportunities out there for OSU to add to its class for 2024, but this helps stem the tide of some recent bad mo-jo as of late. Scott will continue to make a fantastic class that much better and hopefully build back some momentum Ohio State had earlier in the spring.
