People over the age of 75 are now able to book their spring Covid booster vaccine at more than 50 sites across Nottinghamshire. The fourth jab, which is available to be booked from Monday, March 21, is also being offered to those over the age of 12 who have a severely weakened immune system.
The rollout comes at a time when Covid transmissions are surging throughout Nottinghamshire and the UK as a whole, following the emergence of an Omicron sub-variant called BA.2 and known as 'stealth variant'. The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make a spring booster appointment.
It will prioritise those who are in greater need of the top-up, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose, then working through the cohort to invite others who have waited less time. Everyone who is eligible will be offered a top up over the spring and early summer.
