Australia’s largest online sexual health clinic Stigma Health is turning to sex workers and adult entertainers to help stop the spread of gonorrhoea during Schoolies. One of their recruits? Controversial OnlyFans star Bonnie Blue.
According to the National Communicable Diseases Surveillance Report from July to October 2024, Australia has been experiencing a surge of gonorrhoea cases, putting the country at a 33 per cent higher rate for the clap than the five-year mean.
Stigma Health Co-founder James Sneddon reckons these numbers are likely to rise as we head into the silly season.
“STIs tend to rise because this time of year is synonymous with celebration and spontaneity. People are more likely to engage in casual sex, fuelled by a mix of social freedom and lower inhibitions,” he tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“A lesser-known aspect can be that although people are out being social, it can also feel like a lonely time of year and some people are looking for a connection — sex can be that comfort. It can also just be because people think they need to go out of their way to go and see a doctor to get tested.”
In an effort to get the safe sex message across as more people prepare to get their fuck on, Stigma Health is taking a different approach by going straight to sex workers and adult entertainers — including Bonnie and Annie Knight — to stress how important (and sexy!) it is to prioritise sexual health.
“Sex workers and adult entertainers are incredible ambassadors for promoting testing services because they embody professionalism and accountability in sexual health,” James continued.
“Annie, Bonnie, and Coco Bae, who are just some of the OnlyFans creators we’ve worked with to date, understand the importance of regular testing better than most, as it’s central to their work and safety.
“Beyond that, they help break down societal stigmas around sex and testing. Normalising conversations about sexual health is key to increasing testing rates.”
This is an initiative that controversial sex worker Bonnie Blue put her platform behind.
“I know it’s not the most glamorous conversation but with Schoolies on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to,” Bonnie said in an Instagram video.
“STI testing should always come before pleasuring. It’s my non-negotiable and should be yours too.”

No matter what your opinion is of Bonnie and her Schoolies antics, you’ve got to admit that it’s great she’s using her platform to encourage her audience — young men — to stay safe and get tested. After all, STI testing is so incredibly important and if you’re sexually active, you should be getting tested regularly and using protection to keep yourself, and others, safe.
Whether that be making an appointment with your local doctor for an STI screening or using an online service like Stigma Health, there are plenty of ways to do the right thing.
