Police officers have been scrambled to a British park after a walker discovered bones.
The grim discovery was made by a member of the public at Witham Way Country Park on Tattershall Road in Boston, Lincolnshire on Saturday afternoon (Feb 19).
Experts are now testing the DNA to examine whether they are human remains or not.
Lincolnshire Police said that it will remain at the scene over the coming days while enquiries continue, but the exact location of the discovery has not been revealed.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We are on scene at Witham Way Country Park, Tattershall Road, Boston following reports of bones being found by a member of the public.
"We do not know at this stage whether they are human, but as a matter of precaution, we are consulting with experts and making initial enquiries in the surrounding area.
"There will be a police presence in the area for the next few days while we carry out our investigations."
The bones were reported to police just after 1pm and the force said that it was consulting with experts to examine the find.
