Bon Jovi docuseries Thank You, Goodnight trailer released

Hulu has released a full-length trailer for the upcoming docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, detailing the life story of the iconic band.

The four-part series looks back at the band’s epic 40-year journey from their roots in New Jersey to the global stage, including feature interviews with current band members, Jon Bon Jovi, Tico Torres, David Bryan, and Phil X, as well as former guitarist Richie Sambora and fellow legendary rocker, Bruce Springsteen. The series also promises an unfiltered look into the frontman’s life beyond the music.

The trailer kicks off with a shot of the band’s performance of the hit You Give Love a Bad Name, before cutting to a snapchsot of Sambora, 64, saying: “Are we telling the truth? Are we going to lie? What are we going to do?”

Jovi, 62, says in the trailer: “There was no plan B in my life. Bon Jovi was all or nothing. The rock and roll trailblazer was honoured as the 2024 MusiCares Person Of The Year last month, two days before the Grammy Awards.

Along with a photo montage of the band performing, keyboardist Bryan, 62, says: “Five guys from nowhere, and if you work hard enough and dream big enough, you can make it.”

As Livin’ on a Prayer rings in the background of the video, Jovi says: “We were just crushing it. Anything any of those bands talk about, we did. It was real fun, and I thought everyone else was enjoying it too.”

But it wasn’t all glitz and glam. The trailer hints at internal tensions and clashes and moments when the band’s future hung in the balance

Drummer Torres, 70, mentions how the band’s success nearly “destroyed” his marriage and Jovi adds “It almost killed us.”

The trailer touches on Sambora’s departure from the band mid-tour in 2013 and the emotional toll it took on them. “I don’t regret leaving,” he says.  “I regret how I did it.

Sambora returned for a reunion onstage in 2018 during the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
