Bomb squads at Largs marina amid 'item on boat' as police evacuate area

Bomb squads are at Largs Yacht Haven following reports of 'an item found on a boat' within the North Ayrshire marina.

Police were called to the town's Irvine Road at around 3.30pm on Sunday. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and HM Coastguard were also sent to the scene.

The marina was evacuated 'as a precaution' and the road was sealed off by police. As of 7pm, nobody had been allowed back into the site and Irvine Road was still closed.
