Bolton Wanderers predicted team vs Cambridge United as changes hinted at after Sunderland rout

Bolton Wanderers start a busy month of fixtures in League One when they take on Cambirdge United this evening.

Wanderers are at home to the U's at the University of Bolton Stadium and are aiming to make it four wins on the bounce in the division.

They can leapfrog today's opponents - who they suffered a 1-0 defeat against in Cambridge earlier in the season - with three points, which would in turn see them sneak into the top half of the table.

Bolton head into the game on the back of a dismantling Sunderland 6-0 over the weekend and ordinarily, the instinct might be to name the same team which started that encounter.

But Ian Evatt has explained that might not be the case due to management of knocks in his squad and the fast nature of the fixtures which are coming up over the course of the next month which sees Wanderers in action on Saturday and Tuesday for the rest of February.

Evatt said: “Some of them have been rushed back. Some of them are managing little things

“Some of them are a bit long in the tooth so to speak and will find it incredibly difficult to play with the energy and intensity we played with on Saturday twice a week for the whole month.

“We have to be careful on make wise decisions on who plays which games.”

With that in mind, there could be one or two changes to the side which began the comprehensive win over the Black Cats.

James Trafford is expected to remain as goalkeeper, while Evatt has options to make a change in his back three is so needed with Will Aimson and Alex Baptiste able to slot in should there need to be caution with the likes of Gethin Jones, Ricardo Almeida Santos and George Johnston.

Marlon Fossey and Declan John would be expected to continue as the wing-backs, while a change in central midfield could be on the cards.

MJ Williams and Aaron Morley could both start again, but Evatt may wish to rotate key player Kieran Lee and new signing Kieran Sadlier could slot into an advanced midfield role.

Late deadline day signing Kyle Dempsey was not signed in time to be registered for this evening's encounter so will not be involved and could instead make his Bolton debut over the weekend against Morecambe.

Dion Charles and Dapo Afolayan could resume their successful strike partnership from against Sunderland this evening versus Cambridge.

However, Evatt can also call upon Amadou Bakayoko and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson in this department should he wish to make changes upfront.

Bolton Wanderers predicted starting team vs Cambirdge United: Trafford; Jones, Santos, Aimson; Fossey, Morley, Williams, Sadlier, John; Afolayan, Charles.
