Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Cambridge United as Afolayan, Charles & Fossey great

James Trafford - 7.5

Manchester City loanee had little to do in the first half except help to keep out Knibbs header. Was a calm and assured precence in goal as he has been throughout his spell at Wanderers. Broke club with four clean sheets in first four Bolton games.

Gethin Jones - 7.5

Linked up well with Fossey going forward as relationship continues to develop in an otherwise solid and dependable performance in the back three.

Ricardo Almeida Santos - 8

Rarely beaten in one on one encounters and distributed the ball well throughout. Perhaps should have scored with first half header from corner.

George Johnston - 8

Made several important interceptions and contributed to attacks on numerous occasions in an impressive showing at the back.

Marlon Fossey - 9

Fulham loanee tormented the U's defence and got in behind constantly, causing problems often and putting in dangerous crosses. Arguably should have work a penalty in the second half.

MJ Williams - 8

Successfully screened the rearguard in another sublime performance in the middle of the park. Booked towards the end in only slight negative.

Aaron Morley - 8

Passing an absolute joy to behold at times who looks to be one of several brilliant acquisitions in the January transfer window.

Declan John - 8

Put in several dangerous crosses which Cambridge struggled to deal with and set up Bakayoko's opener. A constant threat down the left.

Dapo Afolayan - 8.5

Caused problems throughout and found John with lovely flick which led to opening goal and picked his moment perfectly to add second strike of the evening.

Amadou Bakayoko - 7.5

Came into the team for the absent Kieran Lee and showed great energy in the forward line and was clinical with chance when it came. Replaced by Bodvarsson after the hour.

Dion Charles - 8.5

Made life hard for the Cambridge defence and supporters have found new hero upfront. Helped create second goal by latching onto Cambridge mistake in possession. Only thing missing from performance was a goal.

Substitutes:

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 7

Good hold up play from the Iceland international who continues to look better with each game that passes.

Kieran Sadlier - 7

Slotted right into the Wanderers attack and showed promosing signs off the bench in the final third.

George Thomason - N/A

Came on in stoppage time for Charles but had no time to make impact.
