Bolton Wanderers linked with move for non-league defender amid Derby County transfer issues

Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a move for non-league defender Tyrese Owen after a planned Derby County trial was shelved.

Wanderers have made four signings already in the January transfer window and are seeking to make a couple more additions before the end of the month.

Dion Charles and Aaron Morley have been added on a permanent basis from Accrington Stanley and Rochdale respectively.

Loan acquisitions have also been made in the form of Marlon Fossey from Fulham and James Trafford from Manchester City.

Wanderers are in the market for another midfielder and striker, with Gillingham's Kyle Dempsey and Millwall's Jon Dadi Bodvarsson reported to be the targets in question.

But speculation and reports circulate during the transfer window and the latest suggests that Wanderers might be about to strengthen their rearguard.

According to Football Insider, Bolton are one of 'several' teams in the EFL who are prepared to offer the Haringey Borough defender a move.

The 21-year-old was due to go on trial at Championship side Derby, but that appears to no longer be an option due to the financial troubles that the crisis-hit Rams are encountering in administration which has placed a transfer embargo on the club.

Owen is typically a central defender, but can also operate in midfield.
