Bolton Wanderers made it six games unbeaten in League One as they picked up their fifth win in that run by beating Charlton Athletic 2-1.
Dion Charles put Wanderers in front early on after getting the better of Akin Famewo and rounding Craig MacGillivray to give the hosts the lead.
But the Addicks equalised when substitute Chuks Aneke rose highest to head past James Trafford.
However, Wanderers retook the lead and what proved to be the three points when Will Aimson headed home Aaron Morley's dangerous free-kick to give Wanderers 16 points out of their last 18 on offer.
After the game, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt spoke to the press and here's his initial reaction to the victory.
Another win and a goal from a set piece?
“I think it was a really hard fought game with very few chances. I think both teams cancelled each other out. We weren’t quite at our best tonight. We looked a bit off the pace. A bit devoid of a bit of energy and intensity. We put a lot into Saturday, especially towards the end of that game and I think we looked in and out of possession, a bit jaded.
"The subs gave us some impetus when they came on and were able to change the game again with what we’ve got available, but it’s been a long, long time since a) we’ve won a game with a set play and b) winning a game when we’ve played poorly. We know we can be loads better than that so the most positive thing tonight is we’ve won the game and to win five out of six and draw the other one is really tough and challenging.
"Two years ago if you’d have said we’d have done the double over Charlton Athletic I think everyone would have bit their hands off so that’s got to be a positive and we’ll move on now to a difficult game on Saturday.”
What pleased you most about it?
“The result and the set play. We’ve been working hard on set plays and we’ve been telling the players about the importance of scoring from them and giving the importance in training when we’re working on things because they can win you games when you’ve not played well and tonight it’s won us a game and we haven’t played too well, so I’m pleased with that.”
You’ve mentioned the availability of having options on the bench - did that win it for you?
“We are a high energy team and that is when we are at our best. There you could see we looked a bit jaded and we were not at our best at all.
"I don’t think there was the same snap, but the subs came on and helped us get the win."
You always expected an improvement when you got the players in you were looking for in January - has it surprised you how well it’s been?
“It hasn’t surprised me. I don’t think I am a visionary or anything like that but I said we would struggle in October to January and that we would pick up when we had the players in the building. That has come to fruition.
“We still have lots of hard work to do and are nowhere near where I want us to be but at the moment we need to keep this good run of form going as long as we possibly can.”
