Bollywood icon Salman Khan's show to light up East Bengal celebrations

KOLKATA: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will perform a concert at the East Bengal ground on May 13. The show — dubbed ‘Da-Bangg The Tour-Reloaded’ — will be part of the city club’s extended centenary celebrations.

Confirming the news, East Bengal club’s assistant secretary Rupak Saha said on Monday that the club is ready to host the showman. This time, the programme is being organized by a private agency and the club is providing the venue.

"Two years ago, when we launched our centenary programmes, we had planned to organise a show with Salman Khan. But we had to shelve the idea because of the pandemic. When the organisers approached us for the event to be held at the club, we instantly gave the green light to the proposal,” Saha told a press conference.

According to the organisers, Salman will be accompanied by a host of co-artists in the show like

Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prabhu Deva and Guru Randhawa.

Online booking of the tickets — starting from Rs 1000 to the highest denomination of Rs 25000 — has already started.

The organisers said that East Bengal members will get a 25 per cent discount of tickets of all denominations.

Salman and his team are scheduled to arrive in the city on May 12.

“If there is a natural disaster on a massive scale like Cyclone Amphan and others on May 13, we may cancel the show and hold it on another day within three months, as per our agreement with Salman Khan’s team,” said Rajdeep Chakraborty, a spokesman of the organisers.

The programme is likely to last for more than three hours, he further said.
