Boli Bolingoli has signed for Belgian Pro League club K.V. Mechelen on a permanent basis, bringing an end to his controversial Celtic stay.
The 27-year-old from Belgium sparked controversy almost two years ago when he broke Covid quarantine rules by making a trip to Spain without notifying anyone at the Hoops, before returning and playing against Kilmarnock on August 9, 2020. It resulted in first minister Nicola Sturgeon condemning his actions and he has been on the peripherary of Celtic action ever since.
He spent time on loan at Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir and Russian outfit FC Ufa during his Hoops stay, although the latter was cut short due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He did make a brief comeback into contention in Glasgow under Ange Postecoglou last year but ends his stay in Scottish football three years into his four-year contract, having played 31 times for Celtic.

Mechelen sporting director Tom Caluwé said: “Boli knows what it's like to play under pressure.
"With the surplus still being matches in the Champions League and the Europa League.
"He can give us an extra boost both defensively and offensively."
Bolingoli has signed a two year deal with his new club and returns to Belgium for the first time since leaving Club Brugge in 2017.
