Bogus plumber tells elderly man he's there to check water pressure... then steals stash of jewellery from his house

A man pretending to be a plumber targeted an elderly man in his 70s and made off with a stash of sentimental jewellery from his home in a 'cowardly' burglary. It is thought the thief told the now 'shaken' homeowner he was there to check the water pressure before stealing the items, which are worth over £500.

Detectives are keen to make the public aware of the man and have released CCTV images of someone they wish to speak to as their investigations continue. Officers were called to the victim's home on Chestnut Street in Chadderton at around 3.15pm on Tuesday afternoon (July 12).

The thief gained access to his victim's home and proceeded to steal around £100 in cash, as well as a number of pieces of sentimental jewellery – including watches worth approximately £500 and diamond rings.
