* He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently the head of financial institutions group for Southeast Asia.
* Nair has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience advising banks, insurers, asset managers and leasing companies across Asia, the memo said.
* He previously held senior investment banking roles at Barclays, Daiwa and Citigroup.
* The financial institutions group, or FIG, covers companies such as banks, insurers and asset managers.
* "This appointment will further strengthen our Top 3 FIG franchise in Asia Pacific, while enhancing connectivity and collaboration across our global platform," Evans said in the memo.
