Body recovered from River Tay in Perth after emergency response

A body has been pulled from the River Tay in Perth.

The alarm was raised shortly before 2.30pm on Thursday, November 24 when officers were alerted to an incident taking place at the body of water near the city's Tay Street.

It is believed a large emergency response was triggered, which included fire crews and coastguard search and rescue teams who sped to the scene from Dundee and South Queensferry.

Sadly, upon arrival, a 69-year-old woman was recovered from the river. Cops have confirmed that they are not treating her death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Thursday a body was recovered from the River Tay, near Tay Street, Perth.

“There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
