Body parts found in bags in park belong to missing woman confirm cops

Police confirm that they have recovered the body of young woman, Ilona Golabek, from a park in which human remains were discovered over a week ago.

A report was made to the police force on February 19 about the suspected human remains.

Officers from Lincolnshire Police recovered the bones from a park in Boston, Lincolnshire, and then began to examine three further 'areas of interest' within the park, as reported by Lincolnshire Live.

They found further human remains whilst doing so, including body parts concealed within bags, which were sent off for DNA tests to be carried out.

Issuing a report on their investigation on March 1, Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that the remains are those of Ilona Golabek.

Ilona was reported as being missing from Boston on November 9 last year and following an investigation, Lincolnshire Police launched a murder inquiry.

Kamil Ranoszek was arrested on November 23 as part of this inquiry and was later charged with Ilona's murder, which he denies.

The 40-year-old, of Wormgate in Boston, was remanded into custody to await a trial over Ilona's murder, which is set to begin in April.

Detective Inspector Andy McWatt said: "We have located some body parts concealed in bags in the park since we started searching the area on 19 February.

"We remain in the park and are continuing to search the location. Ilona's family are aware and out our thoughts are with them.

"We are continuing our appeal for witnesses, and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in or around the park to contact us."

Lincolnshire Police says it will remain in Witham Way Country Park for the rest of this week and has thanked the public for its support with the investigation.
