Pupils were sent home from the school while mercy crews arrived.

Tragically, a 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 11:30am on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, police responded to a concern for a person call at a school on Lasswade Road, Edinburgh.

“Medical assistance was provided by paramedics to a 17-year-old boy, however, he died at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Staff and pupils affected by the death are being offered support, according to City of Edinburgh Council.
