A newborn baby girl was found dead in a pub toilet in Leeds on Sunday.
Police were called to the Three Horseshoes in Oulton at roughly 4.45pm after the baby was found in the toilet area.
Attending paramedics confirmed the girl as dead at the scene. Police believe she may have been stillborn in the bathroom stall itself.
West Yorkshire Police have launched a full investigation and urged the mother to contact them or seek medical help.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said the evidence so far suggested the baby’s death was “a stillbirth, and a stillbirth that may have taken place within that bathroom cubicle”.
The West Yorkshire Police officer made a plea to the mother: “Please, get in touch with us, get in touch with our NHS colleagues and please make sure that we can get you the care you need.
“All I want to achieve is making sure that this doesn’t happen again to you or to anyone else.”
In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the pub wrote: "All I can say at the minute is, I'm sorry to everyone that was in with us during the time this happened and to all that was due to come in and couldn't.
"A massive thank you to those that helped us while we were struggling as a team.
"It really doesn't go unappreciated."
It comes after a baby girl, subsequently named Elsa, was found wrapped in a towel in a re-usable shopping bag in East Ham on January 18.
The mother is yet to come forward to Metropolitan Police.
