A body found in a river has been identified as a teenager reported missing after vanishing near a popular nightclub.
Police were called to the River Usk in Newport on Sunday, June 25, after the alarm was raised at around 6.15pm.
Officers have now confirmed the body is that of 19-year-old Tom Moreton, WalesOnline reports.
Concerns had been raised for the teen’s welfare after he was last seen near Vibez nightclub in Newport city centre.
Members of the public were urged to keep an eye out for James, who was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and grey Nike trainers with a green tick.
He was also described as being around 5ft 10 tall and of a slim build.
In a heartbreaking update, Gwent Police said: “The body of a man was found in the River Usk in Newport on Sunday 25 June at around 6.15pm.
“Formal identification has taken place and the man was identified as Tom Moreton, 19, of Cwmbran who was reported as missing to us on Sunday 25 June."
Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
