Body of missing Meath man Peter Burns found in Denmark

The body of a Meath man who has been missing since the beginning of December has been recovered.

Peter Burns, from Dunboyne, went missing in the Danish city of Aarhus on the morning of December 5.

The Irishman was socialising with colleagues in the city centre on Saturday night.

He was understood to have left the bar at Jægergårdsgade between midnight and 1am and then began walking home in the direction of the harbour.

Peter, 29, was staying with his sister Katie but never arrived at her apartment and East Jutland Police received a report that he was missing.

However, an update from Danish police on Monday confirmed the tragic news.

They said: "The 29-year-old man, who disappeared after a city trip in Aarhus in early December, has today been found dead in the harbour at Navitas in Aarhus.

"The relatives have been notified. It was a citizen who at. 13.09 discovered the 29-year-old and called 112.

"We must now clarify the cause of death and have no further information at this time."
