A body of a man found in a field was a missing pensioner, police said.
Alan Giles went missing on Friday, November 18 at around 2pm. He was last seen at the Railway pub on Birkenhead Road, Meols.
On Saturday, November 26, a body of a man was found in a field near Garden Hey Road in Saughall Massie at around 11.30am, but was not at that stage formally identified. Today, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed the body was that of 80-year-old Alan.

He has been formally identified and officers are supporting his family at this difficult time. Alan's death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of his death.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Police officers assisted by Merseyside Search and Rescue can confirm that the body of the man found in Saughall Massie on Saturday 26 November is that of missing 80-year-old Alan Giles. He has been formally identified and officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.
"His death is being treated as not suspicious and a post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of his death."
