Body of Edinburgh woman found at property as police investigate mystery death

A woman's body has been found within a property on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre, with police launching an investigation into the incident.

Officers were called to the scene at East Court, near Niddrie, around 2:30pm on Tuesday, September 20. The body of a 59-year-old was discovered and the death is being treated as unexplained, as the Record reports.

A uniformed officer remains on guard outside the property as enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: "We were called around 2.30pm on Tuesday 20 September, to a report of a death at East Court, Edinburgh. Officers attended and the body of a 59-year-old woman was found within.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
