The body of a man has been recovered from the River Wear at Durham.
Police were called to reports of concern for a man in the river just after 5pm on Tuesday evening. Officers rushed the scene along with firefighters and paramedics.
A man's body was sadly recovered from the water by a rescue team. Durham Constabulary is currently working to identify the male and notify his next of kin.

The force said a thorough investigation will be carried out before a file is prepared for the coroner. They have urged people not to speculate on the circumstances.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "We were called to reports of concern for a man in the river in Durham just after 5pm tonight (September 20).
"Officers, along with colleagues from the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and the North East Ambulance Service, attended the scene where sadly, a man’s body was recovered.
"A thorough investigation will now be carried out before a file is prepared for the coroner. Work is under way to identify the man and notify his next of kin. We politely ask that members of the public do not speculate on the circumstances."
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We got a call at 11 minutes past five to assist the emergency services on scene. We dispatched our hazardous area response team, a paramedic ambulance and an officer."
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said they sent their water rescue team to the scene after being contacted by police. They recovered the man's body from the water.
A spokesperson said: "We received the call just after five o'clock. We were in attendance within eight minutes. We had appliances from Durham station and Bishop Auckland station.
"They were our water rescue team and when we got there they took a person from out of the water. Unfortunately they turned out to be a fatality."
