A number of roads at the Albert Dock have been cordoned off after a body was found in the water.

Merseyside Police rushed to Salthouse Dock at around 3.55pm on Friday, March 25, following reports of a body being found in the water. Once at the scene police found a man in the dock.

The man was removed from the water but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin.

An investigation is currently underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area. An area around the Dock is currently cordoned off.

Mayhem as Arriva bus gets stuck sideways on busy road

A double decker Arriva bus was stuck sideways on a busy Liverpool road causing 'mayhem' during rush hour.

Merseyside Police were called to East Prescot Road, close to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, at around 3.30pm following reports of a bus completely covering one of the carriageways. Once at the scene officers found a double decker Arriva bus had managed to become stuck on the three-lane carriageway.

No traffic was able to pass on the eastbound carriageway running towards Huyton, which caused 'mayhem' during rush hour.

Eye witnesses say people were evacuated from the bus as workmen tried to push it off from the carriageway. Workmen also tried using timber to free the vehicle.

Suspects named after woman raped in city centre

Two men have been charged following a rape in Liverpool city centre (LIVERPOOL ECHO)

Two men have been charged following an alleged rape in Liverpool city centre.

At around 10pm on Monday (March 21), Merseyside Police received a report that a woman had been raped in an alleyway off Parker Street. Officers attended and two men were arrested a short time later. Kevin Lloyd, 37, of Boundary Street, Liverpool has now been charged with rape, and Ryan Dunning, 36, also of Boundary Street, Liverpool, has been charged with aiding and abetting rape.

Both appeared in court on Thursday (March 24), and have been remanded into custody. They will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday (April 20). Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry said: “Rape is a terrifying crime which can have a catastrophic effect on victims for the rest of their lives."
