The body of a 45-year-old man was found in the lake at SoFi Stadium on Wednesday after authorities received reports of a person jumping into the water, according to the Los Angeles Times. A police investigation is currently underway.
Inglewood Mayor James Butts said during a news conference Wednesday that the man was seen in the parking lot at SoFi Stadium at 6:01 a.m. before entering the water 12 minutes later and moving toward the middle of the lake.
Firefighters and a dive team were on-scene searching for the man and the body was recovered at 9:48 a.m., according to Butts.
“Honestly, this is someone who made a conscious decision to trespass on the property, get into the lake, and he ended up having some distress and difficulty,” Butts said. “So I don’t think there’s anything that SoFi could have done to prevent this.”

The artificial lake is located just south of the stadium and is 10-15 feet deep. It also spans 5.5 acres and holds about 11 million gallons of water.
