Police have found a body in the search for a 19-year-old who went missing from his home nine months ago.
The family of Jamie Cannon have been told of the heartbreaking find.
Officers were called to Stevenston, North Ayrshire enquiries are ongoing to establish his identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.
The teenager from Paisley vanished almost nine months ago on May 20, reports the Daily Record.
It's understood the youngster was found within Africa House, which was previously known as the South Africa Pavilion.
Police Scotland have confirmed the body, thought to be that of Jamie Cannon had been discovered in their search as investigations continue to establish his identity.
“Around 4.30pm on Saturday, February 26 we received a call that a body had been discovered in the Ardeer area of Stevenston.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and identity.
"The family of missing man Jamie Cannon have been informed.”
Jamie's mum Lynn Cannon previously spoke publicly about her anguish as she approached the six month anniversary of her son vanishing without a trace.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Lynn said her 'gut' told her Jamie was still alive.
"I feel like Jamie is out there alive somewhere. My gut feeling, or 'mother's instinct', whatever you want to call it, is telling me he is alive and has just taken himself away for a while.
"It might sound daft but it's a feeling I have.
"I just need to know that he is okay."
