The body of a man has been found in the River Leven in Alexandria this afternoon.
Police say that the family of missing Renton man George Walker have been informed, but that formal identification has yet to take place.
George, 36, went missing after leaving The Burgh Bar on February 25, and was reported missing after uncharacteristically missing work on March 1.
Locals came together last week to scour the area for George, whilst the police helicopter helped search teams.
However this afternoon officers made the tragic discovery.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The body of a man was found in the River Leven in Alexandria during the afternoon of Monday, 7 March.
"He has not yet been formally identified. However, the family of George Walker, 36, from Dumbarton who had previously been reported missing has been informed.
"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
