Body found in sea in search for missing man

Police say a body has been discovered in the water at Pembroke port. Dyfed Powys Police said the family of missing Jai Holroyd had been informed and are receiving specialist support.

The 40-year-old dad was last seen on Monday, March 20, and several land and sea searches had been carried out in past four weeks. On Sunday evening, a statement from police said: "A body was found in the water at Pembroke port at 11am, today. While formal identification has not been possible, the family of missing Jai Holroyd has been informed of the development. They are receiving support from specially trained officers."

The HM Coroner has also been informed. A statement added that the death is being treated as "unexplained".

Posting on Facebook his family said after he went missing: "We need as many volunteers with boats, ropes, grappling hooks and drones in the Hobbs Point and surrounding areas. People have been amazing so far, turning up and going to beaches and other areas to look - but Jai is still missing and we need to find him."

Mr Holroyd's partner said earlier this month she was desperately clinging to hope he was still alive. Specialist police search teams, marine units, drones and dog unit were involved in the search. They also worked with South Wales Police’s dive team and Coastguard in the search.
