A body has been found in Carrick Forest near Loch Doon during the police search for missing camper Mark Goldie.
The tragic discovery was made in South Ayrshire at around 3.55pm on Wednesday, November 9.
Police Scotland say that while formal identification has yet to take place, the family of the missing 51-year-old have been informed of the tragic find.
The death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as is the case with all sudden deaths.
Mr Goldie, who was described as being a ‘keen camper’, was last seen around 4.30pm on Tuesday in the West Kilbride area before being reported missing.
A statement from Police Scotland said: “The body of a man has been found within Carrick Forest near Loch Doon around 3.55pm on Wednesday, 9 November, 2022.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of 51-year-old Mark Goldie reported missing from West Kilbride, has been made aware.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
