A body has been found in the search for the fiance of a pregnant teacher found dead in Glasgow.
Police discovered the body of a 36-year-old, believed to be David Yates, in Mugdock Reservoir on Thursday, April 27. Yates was the partner of Marelle Sturrock, 35, who was found dead at her home address on Jura Street in Glasgow on Tuesday, April 25.
The body is yet to be formally identified but it is believed to be Yates.
Extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park, in East Dumbartonshire, were carried out after his white Seat Ateca was found in the carpark on Tuesday.
Yates was wanted in connection with the murder of Marelle, who was 29-weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Sadly, her unborn baby did not survive.
An investigation into her murder remains ongoing but nothing has been established so far to suggest anyone else was involved in her death.
Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
Detective Superintendent Nicola Kilbane said: “Our thoughts are with Marelle’s family and friends, along with everyone affected by this tragedy.
“We are providing her family with specialist support at this incredibly difficult time.”
