Body of a man found in woods near to Wallasey retail park

The body of man was found near a retail park this morning.

Merseyside Police were called to reports of a body found near woods by Bidston Moss Retail Park, off junction one of the M53 in Wallasey. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were in attendance in Bidston Moss, Wallasey, this morning following the sudden death of a man. At around 8.15am we received a report that a body of a man had been found in a wooded area off Junction 1 of the M53, close to Bidston Moss Retail Park.

"Emergency services attended and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and notify his next of kin."

Alleged cocaine kingpin fugitive extradited from Dubai

A man who spent around eight years on the run has been extradited from Dubai.

Michael Paul Moogan, 36, from Croxteth, was flown back to the UK yesterday (July 4), more than a year since his arrest in April 2021. He was in the most wanted fugitives campaign and was finally caught after joint operation between the National Crime Agency (NCA), Dubai Police and Interpol in Abu Dhabi.

NCA Deputy Director of Investigations Miles Bonfield said: “We are extremely grateful to partners for their assistance in ensuring the suspect was traced and returned to the UK."

Ryanair and easyJet warning for holidaymakers travelling to Spain

The Foreign Office has given a warning to holidaymakers travelling to Spain in July.

Ryanair staff plan to strike between July 12 to 15, July 18 to 21 and July 25 to 28. Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Ibiza, Madrid, Málaga, Palma, Valencia, Santiago de Compostela and Sevilla are the affected airports.

EasyJet staff are also planning to strike on July 15, 16, 17, 29, 30 and 31. It is believed this will affect airports in Barcelona, Malaga and Palma.
